Bursting at the seams with funky rhythms, catchy guitar riffs and jaw-dropping melodies, Principal Spinach is setting the table for an all-out West coast takeover campaign in 2013. While tirelessly supporting their sophomore effort Clockwork, the three-piece prog rock group is preparing to hit the studio again this summer to record iii, a double disc effort featuring new music, live cuts and B-sides. Bookended by West coast and US tour dates throughout the spring and fall; this hardworking trio is stepping out into the limelight to carve out their niche in the national music scene.
in Los Angeles during 2010 by longtime bandmates Gaelon Davis (vocals,
bass) and Luis Briones (drums, percussion) with the addition of Rod
Castro (vocals, lead guitar), Principal Spinach was born. With a
combined 40+ years in the industry, each member lends their own unique
influences, experience and successes to the ingenious songwriting
process, establishing the unique, unapologetic sound which defines the
band. Their debut, Persistent Resistance was released in December
2010, quickly followed by supporting gigs at some of Southern
California’s most iconic venues such as The Viper Room, The Roxy,
Whiskey-a-Go-Go, House of Blues, The Key Club and many more.
In the meantime, Principal Spinach hit the studio again to record Clockwork
at EMP Studios in Valley Village with owner and mixing engineer Lynne
Earls. Following the record’s self-release in August 2012, the group

planned for the fall and winter seasons.
